APPLICATION PROCESS

LSU-OLOL Psychiatry Residency program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP www.nrmp.org/). All applicants applying for a residency positions must also particpate in the NRMP. Applications for residency positions will only be accepted through ERAS- Electronic Residency Application Service, http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm.

Deadline for submission of completed applications is November 1st.  Interviews will be held on Fridays from October 6, 2017 thru December 15, 2017 and are by invitation only via Interview Broker, where you can schedule, reschedule, decline, and cancel online. We begin reviewing applications in mid September, so applicants are encouraged to submit all application materials as soon as possible.

Completed applications through ERAS msut include:

United States Citizens, Permanent residents of the US, and J1 visa holders sponsored by the ECFMG (Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) are the only applicants eligible for selection. Our institution does not sponsor visas. We do accepts applications from Interntional medical school gradautes from American Univ of the Caribbean, St George's University, Ross University, and Saba University.

For post-medical school applicants, preference will be given to applicants who have graduated from medical school within the past year, have successfully completed Step 3, and participated in some sort of clinical work during that year. It is also important to note that it is expected the applicants have completed medical school in four to six years.

All applications are screened by the Recruitment & Selections Committee. Applicants are judged on academic qualifications, clinical ability and preparedness, communication skills, and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity.  Our resident selection criteria conform to the guidelines of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME [acgme.org]) outlined in the ACGME Institutional Requirements. Our program does not discriminate with regard to sex, age, religion, color, national origin, disability or veteran status.
